For travellers who prioritise comfort and discretion (works of art, pets, yachting or golf equipment, family travel), road remains the reference. Road itinerary (with or without overnight stop)
- Paris → Beaune (310 km, 3h) via the A6, the Autoroute du Soleil. Lunch break in Beaune (several Michelin-starred addresses: Le Carmin, La Bouzerotte).
- Beaune → Lyon → Avignon (250 km, 2h30) via A6 then A7. Optional detour through Lyon (Paul Bocuse, Tony Mandollé).
- Avignon → Aix-en-Provence (90 km, 1h) — recommended overnight stop for travellers who prefer a two-day journey. Hôtel Le Pigonnet or Villa Gallici in Aix.
- Aix-en-Provence → Monaco (200 km, 2h15) via the A8 (the Provençale) — Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monaco. Mediterranean views from Cannes onward.
- Total door-to-door direct: 9-10h. With overnight stop: 1h45 on day 2 for a relaxed arrival.
